Required a PhD in Engineering to assemble, no, really. The bed arrived with a few broken pieces. I called customer service, and they were great about getting new pieces sent out. Keep in mind this bed is not made in the U.S., but in France, so the parts will take a while to get to you. Once put together the bed holds great so far. It’s been up for 3 weeks, and the only problems I have is that the drawers on the side will not stay together. If you are buying this bed because of the storage, don’t. the drawers are cheap and buckle–which means you can’t open the drawers. Also, the knobs that are for opening the drawers have super sharp screws. If a knob comes off (very possible)the sharp point of the screw is exposed and is a safety hazard.As for the bed itself, it holds the mattress just fine.
